23 Weeks!

Time to update! It's been quite a bit! Five weeks later, and still throwing up. Thankfully, it is not often!! Now I'm at about a week to two weeks in between each visit to the toliet. The HCG hormone is with a woman her entire pregnancy, so I will most likely keep throwing up the whole way through. But it will be worth it... right?? We'll see!!

The most exciting development is the strong kicks I get now! It is so very, very neat to feel this little one move and kick. Josh still hasn't been able to feel it, but I think he will be able to soon!!! My belly button is getting closer to the surface, but it's still an innie!!

The bad thing right now is heartburn and aches. Sometimes, your leg will cramp for no reason at all! And then your back, and then your ribs. Goodness! Sometimes, just pushing on your tummy will make the baby reposition and the pain lessens. It's incredible how something so small can change your body so much!!

Other than that, things are relatively normal. Good amount of energy finally! We're excited for this little one to join the world!!

18 Weeks!

So today marks 18 weeks. The amazing thing is I still throw up on occasion! At least it is MUCH better. The doctor said the HCG (that's what makes you sick) is present the entire pregnancy. I guess most women just aren't that affected by it? Apparently, God didn't make that happen for me!!

We got our first ultrasound yesterday. It was SO amazing!! I can't imagine anyone seeing this amazing little being all formed and growing and not realize there is a God. There is NO way this can happen by chance!! To even think that at 12 weeks, the brain, heart, eyes, etc. are developed and mostly there! No way that is an accident!

So, since the throwing up is dying down, it seems the heartburn is picking up. It actually has gotten so bad it makes me cough! I bought a nice installment of Tums today to try and calm it down. Hopefully that will help! I just hate needing it already when I'm only at 18 weeks!

Let's see, what else is changing. How about, everything? For the first time, I can see past the top of me to my belly!! I haven't been able to do that since I was 13! I can still see my toes, so I think that's a good sign! It definitely is growing and becoming noticeable. Less fat looking, more pregnant looking!

I've also started feeling the little bubbles in my belly. Sometimes much more strong than others. Every once in awhile its keeps going for awhile. Josh still has yet to feel it, but hopefully soon!! Even as I type this I feel the bubbles... Baby Ridley likes to moooove!

Well, that's about it for this update. Love you all!!

Our Special Announcement!

As most of you know by now, Josh & I are expecting a tiny bundle of joy on June 14. Hopefully it's only one, but we'll know for sure in about 6-8 weeks! Our first ultrasound will be between 18-20 weeks.

So, for my dear friend Kate, I wanted to explore some of those lesser known topics. The ones that "The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy" and "Belly Laughs" covers. But, of course, it will also be as I go through them. So, please sensor for yourself!!

I actually knew that I was pregnant before my first missed monthly time, because I started to feel sick already. This is your first clue to get Zofran. Really. I promise. Zofran is a safe medicine for pregnant people that can be prescribed by your doctor. They usually do not want to do so until you're super sick. Another combination is B6 and Unisom. Both also safe. I found that the B6/Unisom didn't actually help. I think it's all up to your body!

So after I took the first test, I was in a bit of shock. Talk about emotions! I was giggling, and then crying, and then giggling, and then crying, and then so on. Who knew the hormones started already??? The most exciting part was telling Josh and our parents. I loved to hear their excitement and how it matched my own!!!

So the next two months or so were trying to survive the puking and figuring out how to get it to stop. Unfortunately, it just won't! It still hasn't. Gah. The next interesting thing is cramping. I think the first thing was my uterus cramping. That's a good sign, it means your belly is growing. Then there's other cramping that leads to not pretty smells. There's also cramping in "special" areas. Honestly, no one talks about that!!! I thought I was miscarrying, but it's actually normal. There's some hormone in your body that makes muscles spasm. And, yep, that area is one of them!!

Also, your nose gets sniffly. Apparently all your membranes loosen a little. You can also have bloody noses and gums too. It's AMAZING what your body does to help develop this tiny miracle!!

Alright, I think that's enough for now. There's so much more, but I'm afraid boys will read this.

Welcome to the beginning of Week 12! Start praying for the all-day sickness to disappear!!!

So I guess it's time for another update. 2009 is upon us, and everything is rolling right along! Here's what's going on...

We went to 9 weddings this year. Yes, 9 weddings. We already have 7 for this year, but I don't believe we'll be able to make it to them all! Hopefully we'll get to at least 5!

Josh is going to Puerto Rico in March to use their telescope. He'll be using the one on the James Bond movie. Direct any questions to him! He may also be going to Australia this summer for his doctorate work.

I am still at Mylan. It's almost been a year! Time flies... I really do love the people I work with!

I miss all you crazies who aren't near me. Let's get together, ok?

I'll update sometime soon. I promise, ok?

Happy weekend!

Day One

Wow... It has been AWHILE since I've done this blogging thing. You all have inspired me (yep, all of you!) to start this again. I'm hoping to include pictures of our life here in Mo-town for you to enjoy!

Since we got married (a whole year ago!), Josh graduated his Master program in Astrophysics and is now working on his Ph.D. He's a smartie! I, on the other hand, am working full-time at Mylan in HR. Oh yes.

No baby yet!

We did make a new purchase... a '97 Cadillac Deville (you may drool...)

It is DEFINITELY Josh's baby! He enjoys feeling as if he's 80 years old :-)

Well, that's it for now! I'll try to keep everyone updated with pictures, etc. of our life as it flows by! Peace out!
